GEISHA INSPIRATIONS

This year, the Ball at the legendary Copacabana Palace took guests on a journey to the faraway lands of Japan by taking its inspiration from the traditional geisha aesthetic. Here, Isabella Pozzato decorated her loose hair with a large headdress and a white flower on the side.

A TASTE OF THE TROPICS

Juliana has kept things simple by decorating her hair with a headband of colorful feathers. Her eyes are framed with false lashes to accentuate that exotic, desert island look.

FEMINIST ACCESSORIES

Costumes and accessories inspired by the female body and which have been influenced by a whole history of feminist symbols? That’s the unique idea of stylists Maira Nascimento and Layana Thomaz who this year launched their Négoçada Carnaval label.

A ROMANTIC TOUCH

For Carnival, Paulo Mazanandê, stylist at the Salon Renoir Cabelo e Art in Rio, recommends styles that are easy to create like this African half-braid decorated with a flower crown for a romantic touch.

FLOWER POWER

Could there be anything that says Carnival more than this bouquet of vibrant red flowers, perched elegantly on top of this girl’s head? Accompanied by a sparkling make-up design and prints inspired by Indian culture, this style will transform anyone into a Queen of the modern age.

AN ODE TO NATURE

Don’t be afraid of superlatives and be proud of Mother Nature. Just like Brazil itself and its luscious, natural treasures, why not style a bun with flowers and leaves and make yourself feel even more tropical with a colorful print dress.

FRUITS & FLOWERS

Be daring and follow Marina’s lead. Wear your love for fruit with pride and humor by decorating your head with a basket of apples, bananas, grapes and delicate flowers.

URBAN MERMAIS

And what would you say to a braid knotted on the side and enhanced with a flowery, colorful bandana? Combine this look with a sequined costume to transform yourself into an urban mermaid.

FEATHER & GLITTER

“Covered in glitter, people feel more confident and beautiful. It’s something that literally transforms you,” Tatiana Baumworcel, the creative mind behind the ‘Purpurine’ (‘glitter’ in Portuguese) project, who thinks that glitter can reveal your inner light and beauty.

MAKE ACCESSORIES A PRIORITY

For Lilian Souza, from the Quality Hair salon in São Paulo, accessories bring that all important finishing flourish. She recommends styling a ponytail, simple bun or braids with flowers, crowns, clips, bandanas and ribbons. Glitter and colored gel are as always a great idea!
