Popmyday: the App that Makes Beauty Sparkle

Want a Californian massage before a client meeting? A quick hair removal before a date? A French manicure for a wedding in Ménilmontant? An extravagant hair bun? Popmyday brings a bubble of beauty and well-being to those who don’t have the time or who are unable to get around.

For all working girls, busy moms and even retired women! Surging on the wave of connected beauty, Popmyday is the new app that helps you simply book services at home, at the office or elsewhere, at any time.

Popmyday is like Uber for beauty

Morgane L’Hostis and Charles Bérenguer are the two entrepreneurs behind this bold proposition. Backed by solid enthusiasm acquired in Silicon Valley, they have joined forces and their ideas. Being young, concerned with their appearance, very active and ultra-connected, Morgane and Charles were quickly able to identify the market. The idea was to “do for beauty what Uber did for private chauffeurs: making a high-end service accessible to the widest audience, using an elegant and effective mobile application,” explains Morgane.

The two entrepreneurs presented their ideas to professionals of the beauty segment and came out as big winners of the L’Oréal Hackathon, a competition aimed at rewarding innovative digital projects in the field of beauty. Then, after baking in the HEC incubator, they let their start-up take flight by recruiting their first service providers. In October 2014, Popmyday went online and found its first client in less than two hours. The bet had paid off!

Popmyday – freedom of beauty

Popmyday frees us from the constraints of traveling and setting schedules, while offering the expertise of handpicked pop artists, who were selected for their expertise, the quality of the products they use, and their availability. By simply logging into the site or the app, you can geolocalize the service provider nearest you, book them and pay online. The strength of the two entrepreneurs – who are paid a commission for every transaction – is that they have managed to offer prices comparable to those in salons and institutes.

Booking some me-time exactly when and where you need it, planning a nail art party for your girlfriends or giving a gift certificate for a relaxing moment – Popmyday is expanding its offer and network (500 pop artists should become partners by the end of 2015) to meet every need. “While only for Parisians for the moment, the service should soon be developed in another city in France or Europe, or perhaps London,” hopes Morgane L’Hostis.

On the other side of the Atlantic and the Channel, comparable services are also booming: Stylebee, on the American West Coast, Glamsquad and Vênsette in New York, Stylisted in Chicago. PrivGlosspod and Cityswish are starting off in London, Beautyondemand in New Zealand, Jantye in Italy, Treatwell in Germany and the Netherlands. These connected, mobile beauty salons may indeed shake up consumer behavior in these sectors. Being beautiful is as simple as ordering a pizza!
